Happy Mooncake Festival

中秋节快乐!!Okay i meant to update the blog more frequent during the break BUT the internet die on me T_T we all too busy revealing stress during our assignment period (probably) and youtube and download too much last month.... it wasn't that bad... jst the last few day of the month we suffer from extreme slow net..... AND IT'S IN THE HOLIDAY!! T_T sigh~ One week break is over, didn't really get to play much this holiday (since people are all too busy to go out) but i got a good rest.... which sort of make me feel even more lazy now... data assignment, hardly any progress....

Anyhow, today is Mooncake Festival/Mid-Autumn Festival/Lantern Festival, however u wanna call it, not celebrating it, too lazy to cook and lazy to find people to dine out together~ got myself a box of EXPENSIVE mooncake T_T but it was by far the cheapest i can find edi.... more to that shop sell it a bit cheaper + moi got $1 further discount from the tauke. (Tauke from malaysia too and speak foochow and hokkien, didn't go gebo and asked them where they r from lah)

Shops here sells mooncake they import from Macau, China, Hong kong and Malaysia, yeah Malaysia, annoying~ at home we probably pay RM25-30 for a box, here the same figure jst the sign become $~ First year in Melb i don't feel like eating it cos i was still haunted by the memory of force to eat it everyday when the festival drawn near as i was the youngest and as Bro and Sis went oversea, it was down to me and mum to eat all those present..... i don't mind eating the mochi and Jelly skin type since i love it, it's the traditional one that me sick~ 2nd year i buy 1 very pricey $11ea hong kong one, well taste okay but was too sweet for me @_@ This year i decided buy Malaysia one , the good-old-flavor that me edi used to still the best~ Buy 海外天brand (was thinking of 锦纶泰 brand too but oversea is a bit cheaper + 锦纶泰 run out of the paste that i want) $24 one box (4 mooncake) T_T got myself the Lotus with 1 egg yolk, my favorite hehehe~ i also like Red bean one but if paying that price liao of cos am gonna choose the one i crave for the most~ past experience have taught me 2 egg yolk is not as nice since all i can taste is the egg hahaha~ the Asian bakery also sell mooncake but very small and cost u $6-8ea, which is the same lah as buying at grocery. I buy Taro flavor mochi mooncake from Breadtop, the paste is good, not too sweet, mochi is nice too but a bit too soft for me hehe, i prefer a little bit more chewy than that, cost me $6-7 for 2 little mooncake leh T_T when i said little it's really little, it's about 1/2 of the ordinary mooncake size, can finish it in 3 bite.

Anyway, i posted about the legend of the mooncake festival last year in my other (abandoned) blog~ this year i post the Origin of the mooncake bah since i wrote whole paragraph of mooncake up there liao~ (actually jst copy and paste from somewhere else hahaha, for the convenient of those who cannot read Chinese i post in English bah)

During the Yuan dynasty (A.D. 1280-1368) China was ruled by the Mongolian people. Leaders from the preceding Song dynasty (A.D. 960-1280) 汉人, were unhappy at submitting to the foreign rule, and set how to coordinate the rebellion without being discovered. The leaders of the rebellion, knowing that the Moon Festival was drawing near, ordered the making of special cakes. Baked into each moon caked was a message with the outline of the attack. So after the people buy the moon cake and go home eat, they would found the message “中秋夜，杀鞑子，迎义军！” which literally mean kill the Mongolian on mid-autumn. On the night of the Moon Festival, the rebels successfully attacked and overthrew the government. And so, today the moon cakes are eaten to commemorate this legend.

Some of my favorite + most familiar poem that always appropriate to describe how we sometime feel when we are away from our home~ Finally have a Happy Mid-Autumn and ate a lot of mooncake~
